# Choose the right table

> Find where to record fuel, electricity, purchases, sales, waste, and commuting.

Start by choosing your workspace and accounting year. Then open the table that matches the activity you are recording.

| What you are recording | Where to enter it | What to prepare |
| - | - | - |
| Fuel burned in a boiler, furnace, generator, or company vehicle | **Scope 1** | Fuel or vehicle type, quantity, unit, and evidence |
| Gas released through a leak | **Scope 1 → Fugitive emissions** | Gas type, mass released, and evidence |
| Emissions from an industrial process | **Scope 1 → Process emissions** | Activity quantity, unit, factor, and factor source |
| Purchased grid electricity | **Scope 2 → Electricity** | Country, year, quantity, and energy unit |
| Purchased heating or cooling | **Scope 2 → Heating / Cooling** | Quantity, energy unit, factor, and factor source |
| Goods, capital goods, fuel purchases, freight, business travel, or an asset you lease | **Scope 3 → Purchases** | Purchase details and supporting documents |
| Products or services you sell, or assets you lease to others | **Scope 3 → Sales** | Sale details, evidence, and any applicable downstream factors |
| Opening stock, production, consumption, and closing stock | **Scope 3 → Product inventory** | Product quantities, opening-stock factor, and reconciliation evidence |
| Waste from your operations | **Scope 3 → Operational waste** | Waste type, quantity, unit, and evidence |
| Employees travelling between home and work | **Scope 3 → Employee commuting** | Vehicle type, employees, annual working days, one-way distance, and evidence |
| Entities included in your reporting | **Boundaries** | Entity emissions, ownership and control details, and evidence |

## Buying fuel and burning fuel

A fuel purchase belongs in **Purchases**, under **Fuel- and energy-related**. Moya selects its upstream Scope 3 factor. When you burn that fuel, record the combustion activity in **Scope 1**. The two entries represent different emissions, so use each table for its own activity.

Purchased electricity has a similar distinction: **Scope 2** records electricity-use emissions, while **Purchases → Fuel- and energy-related → Electricity** records the upstream Scope 3 component. Electricity and purchased heating/cooling do not create stored products in Product inventory.

## Check the year first

Each accounting year has its own tables. A date on a purchase or sale does not move the record to another accounting year. Switch to the correct year before adding it.
