# Create a BOM-based PCF

> Calculate a footprint from saved BOM versions that produce the same product.

Before you start, [create and save a BOM](/user-guides/boms/create-a-bom) for the product and accounting year. Review its inputs, factors, outputs, and production quantities.

  <Step title="Enter the PCF details">
    Open **Company PCFs → Create PCF**. Choose access, check the accounting year, select the product, and name the PCF. Select **Continue**.

  <Step title="Choose From BOMs">
    On **Emissions**, select **From BOMs**. Moya lists saved BOM sources that produce the selected product.

  <Step title="Select the source versions">
    Tick each BOM you want to include and choose its saved version. You can include multiple BOMs for the same product; check each source's production quantity.

  <Step title="Provide a unit conversion if requested">
    If a BOM output unit cannot be converted automatically to the PCF unit, enter the equivalent BOM and PCF quantities. For example, enter the mass represented by a known number of pieces. Use a conversion supported by your product data.

  <Step title="Review and create">
    Check **Selected BOMs**, **Total production**, and **PCF value**. Select **Create PCF** when the sources, units, and calculated value are correct.

The combined value uses the selected sources' emissions and production quantities; it is not an unweighted average of the displayed per-unit values.

If a BOM is missing, check the accounting year, saved version, and output product name. A working BOM change must be saved before it can be chosen as a source.
