# Record products, services, and leased-asset sales

> Record annual sold quantities, link products, and select any applicable downstream factor.

Open **Scope 3 → Sales** for the current accounting year. Click **Add sale**.

## Choose what you sold

| Product type | Use it for | Inventory effect |
| - | - | - |
| **Intermediary** | A product that will be processed further | Adds its quantity to the accounting year’s Sales total |
| **Final** | A product used as sold | Adds its quantity to the accounting year’s Sales total |
| **Service** | A service you provided | No product inventory |
| **Downstream leased asset** | An asset you lease to someone else | No product inventory |

Enter **Product name** for a product, or **Service name** for a service or leased asset. As you type a product name, matching existing products appear. Select the existing product to reuse its name and unit. Choose **Intermediary** or **Final** to match the selected product's sale category.

## Enter the sale details

Click **Continue**. Complete the quantity or leased area, **Unit**, **Price per unit**, **Currency**, **Sale date**, and **Total amount**. Review the **FX rate** and USD **Calculated total**. The FX rate is fetched from currency and sale date and can be overridden.

Upload the invoice or select it from **Supporting documents**. At least one document is required. For a service, the form can save after the sale details; product and leased-asset entries continue to **Emissions**.

## Product downstream factors

The optional downstream factor on a product sale applies to that sale's **Category 9** activity. Select an existing factor or click **+ Create downstream EF**.

When creating a factor, enter **EF type**, **EF name**, **Activity unit** or **Currency basis**, **EF value (kg CO₂e per unit)**, and **EF source**. Spend-based factors use USD. Use an activity unit that matches the sale quantity; do not select a distance factor for a product count without a supported quantity basis.

For processing, use, or disposal of sold products, set the factors in [Product inventory](/user-guides/inventory/downstream-factors). Use the sale's factor for its Category 9 transportation activity.

## Downstream leased assets

Enter the leased area and area unit in the sale details. On **Emissions**, complete **Scope 1 EF**, **Scope 1 EF source**, **Scope 2 EF**, and **Scope 2 EF source**. The factors must be in kg CO₂e per the selected area unit. These factors describe the asset you lease to someone else. Record this activity in Sales, rather than adding it again to your organization's Scope 1 or Scope 2 tables.

## Save and correct a sale

Click **Add sale** and review the saved row. Use the row arrow for details, **Docs** for evidence, and **⋮** for actions. Edit the existing sale when correcting an invoice rather than adding it twice.

Saving, editing, or deleting a sale changes the year’s **Sales** total. It does not change the recorded **Opening** or **Closing** stock. Review the annual quantity balance in [Product inventory](/user-guides/inventory/reconcile-stock).
