# Record fugitive emissions

> Record the mass of a gas released, such as a refrigerant leak.

Use **Fugitive emissions** for gases released directly, such as a refrigerant leak. Enter the mass released, rather than a purchase quantity or the capacity of the equipment.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Choose the gas">
    Open **Scope 1 → Add activity** and select **Fugitive emissions**. Open **Gas type**, search for the gas, and select the matching entry. Use the available gas and GWP filters to narrow the list.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Enter the amount released">
    Click **Continue**. Enter a positive **Quantity** and select its mass unit. For example, a maintenance record showing a release of 2 kg should be entered as **2 kg**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Attach the supporting record">
    Upload the maintenance report or select it from **Supporting documents**. Click **Add activity**.
  </Step>
</Steps>

Moya calculates emissions from the gas you selected and the quantity released. Review the saved factor and source in the row details. Keep separate entries when different gases were released.

If the gas picker is empty, clear its search and filters. If the gas is still unavailable, keep the evidence and ask your workspace administrator for help; do not substitute an unrelated gas.
