# Configure employee commuting

> Record employees, annual working days, transport mode, and one-way commuting distance.

Open **Scope 3** and find **Employee commuting**. Click **Configure** to add a commuting entry for the current accounting year.

    Enter **Activity name**, such as “London office commuting”. Use separate entries for groups with different transport modes or distances.

  <Step title="Select the transport mode">
    Open **Vehicle type**, search the available choices, and use its filters. Select the transport type that matches the employees' journeys.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Enter the annual activity">
    Complete **Number of employees**, **Annual working days**, and **Average one-way distance**. Choose **Distance unit**: km or miles. Employees and working days must be whole numbers greater than zero; working days cannot exceed 366.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Attach evidence and save">
    Upload a commuting survey, calculation sheet, or another supporting record, or select it from the pool. Save the entry and review it in the commuting section.

## How annual distance is calculated

**Employees × Annual working days × Average one-way distance × 2**

For **10 employees**, **220 days**, and **12 km one way**, the annual distance is **52,800 km** before applying the selected factor. You can enter km or miles; Moya converts the distance automatically.

Do not enter a round-trip distance into the one-way field. Use working days that reflect the commuting pattern rather than including days worked entirely from home. If people use multiple modes, divide the activity into supported groups rather than counting the same full annual journey more than once.

Use row actions to edit an existing group. Duplicate only when creating a distinct group and review the copied quantities and evidence. Employee commuting is not included in Product inventory.
